Barrier Remediation
SCA offered a specialized barrier remediation service, called the Work Ready Program, which helped individuals overcome obstacles to self-sufficiency.
Work Ready Program
The Work Ready Program offered a full-family assessment. Work Ready Services focused on the management of the family’s mental health, rehabilitation, social support, and other needs. Once barriers were stabilized, a client could become work ready.
This program provided classroom and community activities to recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) in Schuylkill County. These activities focused on participants’ strengths rather than on their barriers to self-sufficiency.

Schuylkill Community Action is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 1964 to provide services to Schuylkill County residents living in poverty. SCA employs a comprehensive assessment and empowerment approach to provide services to economically disadvantaged persons in its service area.
This program was made possible through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
