Summer Program Staff

Support our youth summer programming by leading fun, engaging activities in a safe and supportive environment.

  • 11-week seasonal position (June 2 – August 14)
  • Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Must pass background checks and clearances
  • Great opportunity for college students or those looking for summer work!

     

    Weatherization Technician

    Help make homes more energy efficient! Perform insulation, weather-stripping, and repairs as part of our home weatherization team.

    • Full-time with benefits
    • Carpentry experience and valid driver’s license required

    Weatherization Crew Chief

    Take the lead on weatherization projects and guide your team to success.

    • Full-time with benefits
    • Requires construction/carpentry experience and leadership skills

    Case Manager

    Make a difference by helping individuals and families reach self-sufficiency.

    • Full-time with benefits
    • Must have a degree in a social service field and strong communication skills

    Residential Worker

    Work part-time at our Bridge House facility, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents.

    • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts available
    • High school diploma or equivalent and clearances required

    HECM Counseling

    Schuylkill Community Action is proud to announce the availability of Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) Counseling, provided by our HUD-certified housing counselors.

    A HECM is a reverse mortgage insured by the FHA that allows homeowners 62 and older to access their home equity while continuing to live in their home.

    Benefits include:

    • No monthly mortgage payments
    • Flexible use of funds (e.g., medical expenses, home repairs, daily needs)
    • Ability to stay in your home long-term

    To be eligible, homeowners must meet FHA property standards and have the ability to pay property taxes, insurance, and related costs. For more information or to schedule counseling, call us at (570) 622-1995.

    Asthma/COPD Remediation

    We are excited to introduce our Asthma/COPD Remediation Home Repair Program – a new health-focused initiative addressing environmental triggers inside the home.

    This program is designed to make vital home repairs that can help improve living conditions for individuals with respiratory illnesses such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

    Examples of eligible repairs include:

    • Mold remediation
    • Ventilation improvements
    • Elimination of moisture or pest intrusion

    Participants also receive a free cleaning supply kit, which may include a HEPA vacuum, mop set, mattress/pillow covers, all-purpose cleaner, etc.

    Notice of Funding Availability

    The Schuylkill County Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board is now accepting Grant Proposals from agencies or organizations interested in promoting “affordable housing efforts” in Schuylkill County.

    The Affordable Housing Trust Fund will allocate up to $317,033 in the 2025 funding round. The application deadline is Friday, May 2, 2025 at 4:00 PM. A brief presentation of the proposal will be required of the applicant during the June 3, 2025 Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board Meeting.

    This year marks the 60th anniversary of Schuylkill Community Action (SCA), and we are proud to reflect on six decades of service and progress in Schuylkill County. Since 1965, SCA has played a vital role in helping local families overcome barriers and improve their quality of life. From housing support and financial education to emergency assistance, food distribution, and housing preservation efforts, our work has grown to meet the needs of our neighbors. At the heart of it all is our mission to support individuals and families inbuilding stable, productive lives.

    As we celebrate this milestone year, we also recognize the thousands of lives that have been touched by SCA’s programs and the dedicated team that has made this possible. The true impact of our work is seen in the people who have gained independence, stability, and hope for the future. We are grateful to our partners, supporters, volunteers, and staff who have stood with us over the years. As we look to the future, SCA remains committed to providing effective services that respond to the needs of our community and make Schuylkill County a better place to live and work.
