CARES Rental Relief Program
The CARES Rent Relief Program (CARES RRP) was created as an emergency response to the COVID-19 health pandemic to provide rental assistance to assist households experiencing job loss or a substantial loss of income as a result of the current health crisis.
Please be aware that the authority to accept and process rental assistance requests pursuant to Act 24 of 2020 expired on September 30, 2020. At this time Schuylkill Community Action and its agents lack the authority to accept new applications.
However, based upon ongoing legislative initiatives occurring in the Pennsylvania legislature, SCA anticipates that authority for COVID related rental assistance will be reenacted by the General Assembly. Upon reenactment of authority, SCA and its agents will start accepting applications again. Please check back on the SCA website regularly to see if applications for assistance are reopened. We will also update our Facebook page if reauthorization occurs.
If you previously submitted an application electronically or via the United States postal service with a post date of September 30, 2020 or earlier, we will continue to process your application
CARES RRP assistance is available to lessees with incomes up to the area median income that became unemployed after March 1, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, or lessees that are experiencing 30% or more of a reduction in annual household income resulting from reduced work hours and wages related to the pandemic.
